Greg took up the position of Executive Officer for the Yarra Drug and Health Forum in September 2010.
Greg joined Victoria Police in 1980 after leaving university and performed uniform general duties and investigative work before branching into crime prevention strategies that had a focus on working with young people. While as a member of Victoria Police he started the Police Schools Involvement Program and the Youth Advisory Unit and also headed up the Crime Prevention Unit. Greg received the Angela Taylor Memorial Fellowship in 1990. He was attached to the Drug and Alcohol Coordination Unit from 1997-2002.
Greg left policing in 2002 and has over the past ten years been involved locally and internationally in following his main interest; drug policy issues. Greg worked as the Education and Research Coordinator for Drug and Alcohol Services at Western Health (DASWest) from 2002-2004 and then from 2004-2010 he then lived and worked in South East Asia and PR China as a senior technical advisor on policing, HIV prevention and harm reduction at Burnet and Nossal Institutes. He has, from time to time, returned to Victoria Police as a training consultant advising on drugs and alcohol issues and dealing with critical incidents involving the mentally ill.
