To strengthen links between local alcohol and drug, social, welfare and health agencies, community organisations,
individuals, residents and the broader Yarra community with an interest in reducing alcohol and drug (AOD) related harms
in the City of Yarra
To advocate for the development of evidence-informed policies and practices that will facilitate ease of access to
clinical services and other assistance, and ensure inclusion for people with a diversity of needs
To raise awareness, disseminate information and increase community understanding of AOD issues and other related health,
social and welfare concerns by holding regular meetings and events open to the Yarra community including community organisations,
individuals, businesses and residents
To plan, promote and enhance collaborative City of Yarra and other metropolitan and regional responses to AOD issues by raising
awareness and sharing information of AOD issues that impact on the City of Yarra community and beyond and to seek community and
agency views on these issues
To identify existing gaps in AOD services and initiate/promote discussion and awareness raising amongst relevant funding agencies
to address those gaps by providing a neutral ‘space’ and to act as a conduit for AOD agencies and other relevant health, social and
welfare sector groups to raise issues impacting on service delivery
To explore access to AOD services, in particular for families, and to advocate for focused and increased access to support
those who are supporting loved ones experiencing difficulties due to their substance use as an early intervention/prevention strategy
